Turn a scan into a transparent signature

Frame the signature, drop the paper, and download a transparent PNG.

Local processing: your images are not uploaded to Pixlery.

How to use this tool

1

Add a scan or photo

Choose a static JPG, PNG, or WebP of a handwritten signature on paper. Processing stays in this browser.

2

Frame and drop the paper

Zoom in if the signature is small, drag the corner brackets to frame the ink, then move the threshold. Sample the paper if the sheet is uneven.

3

Download a PNG

The left preview is the transparent ink. The right preview shows it on a page. JPEG fills white.

Built for predictable results

Built for ink, not portraits

A brightness threshold keeps strokes. This is not the portrait cutout used in Image Background Remover.

Two views of the same file

Checkerboard shows what you download. The page view shows how the signature sits on a document.

Private

The scan never leaves your device. Pixlery does not receive the file.

Frequently asked questions

Is the download a transparent PNG?

Yes by default. PNG and WebP keep paper pixels clear. JPEG cannot store transparency, so empty areas fill white.

How do I turn a scanned signature into a PNG?

Upload the scan, frame the ink, adjust the threshold until paper disappears, then download. That is the scan-signature and signature-to-PNG path on this page.

What if the pen is light or the paper is shadowed?

Sample a clean paper spot and raise the threshold slowly. Pale pencil and heavy shadows can still leave haze or drop thin strokes. High-contrast black ink on white paper works best.

Is this a legal electronic signature?

No. This makes an image of handwriting on paper. It does not create a qualified electronic signature or have legal effect by itself.

How is this different from Image Background Remover?

Use Image Background Remover for people or products. This page only lifts handwriting off paper and will not try a portrait model.

Can I crop first or put the PNG in a PDF?

Yes. Tighten the frame here, or refine the scan in Image Cropper. For a round mark, use Round profile picture. To place pages in a document, open Images to PDF.
