LinkedIn image sizes for profiles, Pages, posts, and links

LinkedIn has no single 'banner size.' A personal background, company Page cover, ordinary photo post, and website link preview are separate placements.

Photo post versus link preview

An uploaded photo is the post media itself and can use ratios from 3:1 through 4:5. A link preview is generated from a URL and uses a 1.91:1 frame; LinkedIn documents 1200 × 627 for that image.

Personal and company covers are also different. A 1584 × 396 personal background should not be stretched into a 4200 × 700 Page cover because the ratio and profile overlays differ.

1

Identify the exact placement

Decide whether the asset belongs to a personal profile, company Page, photo post, or shared link before choosing dimensions.

2

Create separate crops

Use Social Media Image Toolkit to frame photo posts and covers independently from the same source.

Inspect desktop and mobile

LinkedIn can crop or overlay profile elements differently, so confirm the final preview on both surfaces.

Is 1200 × 627 the LinkedIn feed image size?

It is specifically documented for link previews. Ordinary photo posts support a wider aspect-ratio range, so calling every feed asset 1200 × 627 is misleading.

Why does my background crop after using the recommended size?

Recommended pixels do not guarantee identical display across screens. Keep logos and text near the central practical safe area and inspect the final profile or Page preview.
